I am a reporter for Stateline, a news service affiliated with the Pew Charitable Trusts. Based in Denver, Colorado (formerly Washington, D.C.), I explore how national policy affects real people. I travel to different communities all over the U.S. to write about trends in state higher education, workforce development, and economic policy.

My work for Stateline has appeared in the Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, HuffPost, USA Today, and PBS NewsHour, among other outlets.

Previously, I was a staff writer for National Journal, where I led reporting for a series on innovation in the economy and also helped launch a series on diversity in America. Past beats have included politics and the White House. I graduated cum laude from Yale University in 2010 with a degree in English.
